The N.I.G.H.T Project (2018)

Litsa Kiousi was invited by Andrea Zittlau to „translate“ the poems of N.I.G.H.T in movement. N.I.G.H.T. is a book with poetry written by incarcerated men in Graterford, PA during creative writing / performance/ origami classes Andrea Zittlau facilitated between September 2015 and March 2016 together with Jayne Thompson.

Any attempt to embody the torments of incarceration would only be naive. Therefore she chose to create a physical poem, presented here as a photo essay, based on the aftertaste that left on her the reading of NIGHT. She used 1 q.m., 2 neon lamps, a naked body, a soundtrack that was created based on fragments of the poems.

The collaboration with photographer Mayra Wallraff has been essential. It offered a gentle and at the same time penetrating view through the lenses allowing non-tangible layers to be revealed.
An e-book where the The N.I.G.H.T Project is part of will be published soon by A. Zittlau.
